Tanzanian Arabica production mainly takes place around Kilimanjaro in the north and in the southern Mbeya Highlands. The Mbeya region in the south-west is known for its fertile soils and produces cocoa, tea and spices alongside high-quality coffee. Being a fairly remote and underdeveloped area, Mbeya has a unique feature. Here, coffee is grown on high plateaus instead of steep slopes. Farmers in this region face intense sunlight in summer, but also very heavy rains in winter. Coffee production is still a manual labour, which ensures that only really ripe berries are picked by hand.
This variety from South Mbeya is undoubtedly a handcrafted coffee, where the hard work is reflected in a refined cup with intense notes.
