Sulawesi has the pronounced sweetness, moderately bright acidity and balance of a regular wet-processed coffee, but with some unexpected, quietly exotic nuances in the aroma and taste: honey, walnut, plum, tart fruit (grapefruit, guava), lily flowers, chocolate or roasted cocoa nibs. The island of Sulawesi, formerly Celebes, stretches out like a huge four-fingered hand in the middle of the vast, complex ridge of islands that make up Indonesia. Sulawesi coffee comes from the mountainous region at the base of the island's southwestern finger, near the city of Rantepao.
